When is any Jeep project really complete? Before the NSJC Jamboree I blew the clutch in my 95YJ. Since I bought the YJ two years ago I kind of knew it was failing and my inexperience offroading likely burned it up pretty good too. Paul was kind enough to assist me with the replacement of my clutch which involved dropping the driveshafts, transfercase and transmission. The clutch disintegrated, there was no clutch material left. Also the manual transmission fluid was contaminated, water must have leaked into it. So after having the flywheel resurfaced ($65) & replacing the clutch ($260) and an expensive transmission seal ($39) the repairs were complete. Since we had the YJ in Paul's garage anyways and I had all the parts we decided to do the axle upgrades too. The plan was to rebuild a Dana35 axle with 4.88 gears and a used Super35 kit I had bought. For those of you who don't know what a Super35 kit, it includes 30 spline chrome alloy axle shafts and a Detroit locker. We rebuilt the axle on the workbench then swapped it out under the YJ. For the Dana30 axle we simply pulled the one from under the YJ (it had new axle seals) and installed the 4.88 gears. It already had a LockRite locker. We had the job completed well in time for me to attend the NSJC Jamboree. The YJ runs well on the highway and great on the trails, just like stock. With the stock 4 cyl YJ axles (4.10 gear ratio) my crawl ratio was 44. Now with the 4.88 gears my crawl ratio is now a respectable 52 Now I'm a hardcore rock crawler ;D thanks again Paul for everything

My next project is to fabricate a soundbar for my YJ to hold a pair of Pioneer speakers and to mount my CB radio on then install a decent CD deck in the dash. Likely I'll have to upgrade the factory front speakers too.
