Steel wheelies or Alloy (alumium) wheelies? and put into perspective for me where my offroading is minimal and dont do the crazy stuff you guys do with your big toys ... (and to think I wouldve just bought any random tire and be done with it ... now im getting 16" for more tire selections ... ARG ...)

That's opening a can of worms for a great debate, anyway my personal opinion is for minamal 4wheelin alloy is good for it's light weight but in mud it will scuff up easy but may buff out also they are a little more pricy.Steelies are stronger resist bending a little more than the alloy and are a little cheaper. It all depends which you will like more. Most of the people i know will run the steel ones for 4wheelin,the alloy just look better doin it.And at the same time remember chrome don't take ya home they are just for looks.Myself i like the black steelies they look meaner,i don't know if i helped you much but like i said it's mostly up to you

man thats no where farther than I am now ... sigh.
do any steelies have 5-6 stokes and not black? I have not found a set yet ... If I have, then they are priced the same as the alloys...
Ok other question: Are alloys going to go to hell quicker up north with salt corrosion and crap like that?

No they won't go to hell any quicker but they will probably cost a little more to repair but it would be a long time before you would get to that point.Yes you can get a 5 spoke steelie i used to have a set that i had put on a samurai ,they are just a star shape as for choices chrome, black, white and you can always paint them what ever color you like. But in your case it might be better to go with alloy because of the heavier weight of the larger tires, and i doubt you are going to regear, the alloys are lighter than the steelies and the pretty alloy will help save the look of the pretty libby lol.I read you other post i believe you said the size of tire you are going to use i forgot but i think it would be close to 30 or 31 inch tire the alloy would help save in the power department hope this help.OH! the micky thompson mtz is a very good choice for a tire,my brother had a set worked excellent on road and off, alot better than the procomps he has now.

Just to let you know i had just priced up a set of steelies at ASAP $450 tax in with the centers and lugnuts that was for black steelies.I'm pretty sure that would be alot cheaper than alloys.but that was for 15's but you can check and i'm sure the 16's would be the same give or take a dollar.
