I thought I'd tap out a quick message to let everyone know we made it home safely last night thanks to CAA.

After we left the trail and headed to Bathurst I noticed my YJ's voltmeter was stuck at 12 volts and a "Check Engine" lamp had come on. After Mike and I ate supper in Bathurst and got back on the road we noticed that the voltmeter now would read 9 volts at idle and all the lights were really really dim. My alternator was fried and the battery dead, I wasn't going to make it home.

So I called CAA and within half an hour they showed up and towed my Jeep home. This week I'll pull the alternator out and rebuild or replace it.

Thanks again to Marie-France, Luc and Dean for their offers to help me get home.

Later today I'll write another posting about the great time we had today and if I can I'll post some pics.

sorry to ear that you had trouble to get home last night Randy, me I towed Louis truck all the way back to his place and then came home to see the wife I was burned out and my jeep needed a good clean, took me 2 hours of pressure wash and 2 full tank of gas but now clean enough for the road now just need to check all my fluids and my alternator and starter

I didn't want to put any of you guys out. Everybody had work to go to this morning and everybody was pretty tired out from yesterday.

The tow didn't cost me a dime. My CAA membership has paid for itself once again ;D

Today I'm shopping about for a replacement alternator. Say Paul, would you like to trade a chainsaw for an alternator? I've found one in the back of my YJ ;D
