Okay, this is a long story but please follow it, it has a nice ending. My son & I went for one of our trail runs late this afternoon. I had just got through mounting a proper spare tire on a modified stock tire carrier and felt like going for a ride. I hadn't planned to head into the woods, all I had with me was a toolbox of tools. No Hi-Lift or winch kit. But of course we did go into the woods and got stuck. We had to walk out of the woods three kms just to get a winch control Doh ! Now I could have walked the three kms back into the woods but why when I also have a "Trail Rated" Jeep Liberty. So with the damn winch control and a pair of rubber boots we headed back into the woods. The Libby did well despite the stock suspension & tires. Once we winched the YJ out of the mud we had another small problem, two Jeeps and only one experienced driver. Most of you know me & my son Michael since last summer. He's twenty years old but doesn't have his driver's license and oddly enough hasn't showed an interest in driving so this was the perfect opportunity for him to learn. He did very well with the YJ and its standard transmission. (You didn't think I'd let him drive the Libby did you?) This is where the "father son moment" happens. I was leading the way back home on the trail in the Libby with the site of my son driving his first Jeep. I'm getting weepy just thinking about it I may soon have to buy another trail Jeep , hmmm...another YJ? Next lesson, second gear. LOL ;D

My son often likes to to offroad with me but doesn't like getting up early.
I'm interested in getting him behind the wheel more often. He's probably the only 21 year old in NB (heck, in Canada) that doesn't want a driver's license.
