I thought I'd post a "sticky" posting where we can post our own "aww crap" moments. Like yesterday when my son & I decided to explore a local "stock" trail and found ourselves in a deep muddy puddle wishing we had a winch or at least better tires. With a lot of rocking back & forth we finally managed to get out without even getting our feet wet (boy, I need more agressive tires) So, everybody start posting your stories about trouble that you've gotten into, like lets say you drove through a puddle real fast, choked your engine and had to get towed home all the way from Big Bald Mountain. eh Charles?

I had yet another all too familiar "Awww Crap" moment Late yesterday afternoon Mike suggested we try out a familiar trail in Dalhousie with the YJ. I thought it would be okay even though I had already removed the front driveshaft off of the YJ. (I'm trying to troubleshoot a front axle noise problem) Well it didn't take long for us to get into trouble on the slippery grassy hills with 2WD and four bald Bogger tires . No problem, I have a winch ...but no damn winch control So Mike & I had to walk home through the woods for the winch control & the Liberty. This is the second time I've gotten stuck in the woods of Dalhousie, you'd think I would have learned by now. I really have to wire up an in-cab winch control...or simply stay out of the woods with a 2WD Jeep riding on bald Boggers ;D Sorry, no pics...too embarrassed

ahhh come on Randy it cant be that bad
had one of those not long ago went for a little run and figure out there is only a couple little patches of ice in the middle of the road then all of a sudden something got my attention and I got high centered on a big patch of ice right in the middle of the road so I had my winch but it wasn't working and then the high lift jack was home and the come along was home and only had a shovel but didn't work and had water all around and only in snickers so I had to call Luc And Marie France to come and help me get out at 9 in the morning

At the Saint John Run this past weekend I experienced two "Awww Crap" moments The first occurred as I ventured into a deep puddle only to hit a solid rock beneath the water. Before I found a way about the rock I flooded the interior of my Jeep. And to make it worse I had just repaired the holes in the floor, the water had no way to drain out. I had to punch new holes in the floor just to drain out the water. (sorry, no pics of the flood) At the very end of the trail I discovered I had flipped a shackle on one of my front springs. I've never had this happen before but it wasn't hard to fix, we simply jacked up the front of the Jeep and flipped the shackle back in place. Hmmm...maybe it's time for greaseable shackles or a shackle reversal kit.

This past week I decided to install a gas tank & transmission skid plates on my Liberty. I dropped my trailer hitch off of my Liberty to install the gas tank skid. One bolt was in a real tight spot above the muffler that took some imagination & strength to get out and I had to cut one seized bolt out with a cutoff tool without cutting into the gas tank. Putting it all back together wasn't too difficult but I'm missing one bolt. I'll have to scratch my head for a while to figure out a solution. To install a transmission skid I have to drop the front skid plate. Wouldn't you know it the first two bolts I begin to wrench on snap off So I have to drill out the two broken bolts, find two new metric bolts and see if I can get the transmission skid in place. Once I get all the skids on I'll pull off the roof basket and see if I can move the CB antenna off of the roof. wish me luck...I may need it...

Both Johnny & I suffered some "trail rash" as a result of the NBJC Fall Crawl. I'll let Johnny post his pics (I don't want to "rub salt in his wounds") The only damage that I suffered was a bit of severe pinstriping and a single dent in the running board. Hmmm...a good excuse to buy rock sliders.

Awww Crap!, again!!! My Liberty has a small problem, the battery goes dead if it's not driven for a week. I know what the problem is, a small electronic computer I installed this summer is incorrectly installed and has drains the battery slowly. Friday afternoon I tried to start the Liberty and it wouldn't So I had to use my 95 YJ (which started easily even though I haven't had it running for a month) to boost my 04 Liberty Today I'm simply going to unplug that damn electronic computer.
