Hi Why would they weld like that in the middle of the tube? First time I have seen steel washers instead of rubber boots, probably last a hundred years longer. If your still coming to Manitoba you may want to check out the public insurance site. www.mpi.mb.ca/english/english.htmlBased on faulty testing by Saskachewan insurance we may be forced to keep tires under 34" on the street and only for trucks, SUV's have to run factory sizes only. Your YJ is classed as an SUV here unless it has no rear seat, even remove the seat belts just to be on the safe side. This will get you a "T" on your plate and let some suspension mods pass inspection. You'll also want to check with them to see if you can bring your YJ into the province, new regulations prevent the importation of older vehicles into the province. I don't remember the cut-off date so it would be a good idea to check into it. John

So if I don't have a rear seat & seatbelts my YJ wouldn't be considered an SUV? What would it be considered John? Just thus past week I realized the Hella lamps I put on my roof rack may not be "street legal" in NB due to the number of lamps & their position. Maybe I can move a pair to the bumper for highway driving.

If you have a bunch of lights on the roof they are supposed to be for offroad use only and covered when on the highway.

Forgot to answer the 1st question quote/WoW, I never realized there were so many details regarding the Motor Vehicle Act. So if I don't have a rear seat & seatbelts my YJ wouldn't be considered an SUV? quoi would it be considered John? quote\
In some provinces you can register as a truck with or without the rear seat, it varies . Not sure what the rules for insuring in New Brunswick because I got tired of argueing with the insurance company when I had the YJ.
