Okay guys, here's an opportunity to share your stories of you first trail runs with Paul ;D
Two years ago I bought a 04 Liberty Sport, totally stock. I discovered the NB Jeep Club and struck up a friendship with some guy from Bersford by the name of Paul Boudreau.
Paul invited me to a trail run near Bathurst, just the two of us. The morning before the run I had just installed the front tow points & skidplate on my Libby. I explained to Paul that my Libby was totally stock but I don't think he had any idea how stock it was.
So imagine this would you. Paul was driving his 89YJ with a 4" lift on 33" tires leading a stock 04 Libby down a trail in the woods. There were some tense moments but no major damage to the Libby. I hit the skidplates a few times, got my first pinstriping but didn't need a tug once.
I haven't been on that trail again since then, at least not with the Libby.
Since that run with Paul I've bought a 95YJ which has become my true trail rig. Paul has been key in helping me build my YJ. He's installed my lift kit, repaired my rear axle and repaired my rusting floorboards. Our next project will be the total rebuild of YJ's axles with new gears & lockers.
Pauls own Jeep build has been fun to watch too. I swear he's the "Red Green" of Jeeps. There's nothing he can't build or make work.
You should see the early pics of his Jeep. It once started out stock too. Now it sits high on a SOA setup on Dana61 axles and 42" tall tires.
I haven't heard the engine since you put the Purple Hornies on Paul. It should sound even better with the new engine cam & four barrel carb.
Oh yeah, on the trail Paul's always good for a great show.
