Well today my recovery winch earned its name, I needed recovery twice this afternoon.
I went exploring down a small road here in Dalhousie, typically very easy in a stock Jeep but there's still eight inches or more of snow drifts in spots. I got stuck twice and had to winch myself out. It wasn't easy to find trees big enough to hook on to but the 100' of cable came in handy.
I also learned today that even though I wasn't trying to crawl over rocks disconnecting my sway bar allowed all my wheels to stay on the ground. From now on before entering a trail I'm disconnecting my sway bars & air down every time.

I need to take my Jeep to a parking lot somewhere to properly wind up the cable. It looks sloppy right now. Did I tell you about my sway bar experience? At one point while I was stuck one of my rear wheels was spinning. I was curious if one of my front wheels was spinning too so I got out an did a "walk around". It was odd looking at my Jeep idling in 1st gear, 4WD Lo and the two wheels on opposite corners were off the ground & spinning ;D That's when I decided to disconnect the sway bars (with the Jeep off). Then the suspension flexed and all four wheels were on the ground. I never thought I'd need to disconnect the sways for snow runs
