This weekend I had plans to put in a locker and a few other mods to my YJ but after a little drive about town as I pulled to a stop and turned off my Jeep steam poured out from under my hood. I was just pretty surprised, I haven't had any cooling system problems since last fall. So after a quick look under the hood we guessed that lower rad hose had blown. I was at a friend's house visiting and he just happened to have a spare rad hose on one of his YJ's he has in his yard (he even has a couple of CJ's lying about). We replaced the bottom rad hose and topped up the rad. All looked good until we noticed water pouring out of the water pump . I had replaced it just last fall, how could it fail so soon?! I wonder if there was a warranty? The water pump only leaks when the engine is off so I was able to at least get home. Tomorrow is another day and I hope to be able to make room in the garage for my Jeep and begin tearing it apart. wish me luck...

i would imagine there is at least a 1 year warranty Yes, there was a warranty on the part. All I need to do is take the old part out and take it in to Cdn Tire for yet another Crappy Tire part. The only problem is I'm out of town and won't get home until Wednesday night. I sure hope I can get it all together for the Snow Run on Saturday. With any luck Paul can get my locker to fit

Well today I got the water pump out it but didn't look to be leaking and the bearing was sound. I changed it anyways. Looking at the old & new water pumps it became clear what the problem was, the bearing was popping out of the old pump. Coolant was likely leaking out the "weep hole" in the pump. old water pumpnew water pumpI've managed to get the rear axle together too but have a couple of electrical items to take care of yet before a test drive later tonight. If all goes well you can expect to see me tomorrow for the Snow Run in Bathurst.
